Huntingdon Area Nature Conservation Sites

The map below shows the location of the main sites of nature conservation interest within and adjacent to the area covered by the Wildlife Trust Huntingdon Area Group. [NOTE access to these sites is subject to the normal restrictions of any land.] A link to "Wildlife Trust Reserves" in the Huntingdon Area is being prepared, providing more detail about our local sites. Key to the status of the sites shown on the map:

• NNR - National Nature Reserves form part of a national series of nature reserves covering Great Britain (Natural England; Countryside Council for Wales; Scottish Natural Heritage);
• SAC candidate Special Area of Conservation; SPA Special Protection Area. See the Joint Nature Conservation Committee web site for more information @ http://www.jncc.gov.uk/ProtectedSites/;
• SSSI - Sites of Special Scientific Interest - for links to all of the sites (NNRs, SSSIs, SPAs etc.) in England see ENs "Nature on the Map" site @ http://www.natureonthemap.org.uk;
• Trust Reserves - WT sites owned or managed by the Trust. [Within the Huntingdon Group area these include several SSSIs, one NNR and most are identified as 'County Wildlife Sites'.];
